When Pressure Isn’t The Problem Anymore
What do you do when your life improves, but your nervous system doesn’t believe it yet?
I’ve never claimed to be perfect. I try my best and leave the rest to God. I’m not chasing perfect anyway. I’m chasing better than what I’ve been.
My future looks bright from my seat, and I mean that. A true leader still sees room for improvement.
Confidence doesn’t cancel accountability.
For a long time, my life felt far from desired, at least the way I saw it back then. Things started turning around when I stopped living off dreams and started setting goals. Dreams are easy to hold.
Goals make you move.
I’m not where I want to be yet, but I can proudly say I’m on my way. Not just emotionally either. I can prove it.
I’ve always been a lone wolf. No pack, no backup. I either succeed and the people depending on me are good, or I fall short and the disappointment travels further than it should. That part is still true today.

Let's get back to the topic….
I wrote about the pressure I feel every single day and how I became addicted to it. The deadlines. The urgency. The edge. The “I have to” energy. This one is different.
This one isn’t pressure. It’s fear.
Pressure pushes me.
Fear pauses me.
One makes me grind. The other makes me hesitate.
Fear doesn’t attack my ability, it attacks my identity. It tries to convince me that if I slow down, I’ll lose everything. That if I ask for help, I’ll look weak. That if I rest, I’ll fall behind. That if I stop moving at full speed, life will catch up and take something from me.
That’s why this one hits different. Because pressure is loud, but it’s predictable. Fear is quiet, and it’s creative.
So I stopped arguing with it and started testing it.
First, I stopped calling it “preparation” when it was really avoidance. If I’m always tweaking the plan, perfecting the timing, waiting for the mood, I’m not building. I’m hiding.
Second, I made my goals smaller on purpose. Smaller in execution, not in meaning. I don’t need a whole life overhaul to prove I’m changing. I need a daily action that can’t be negotiated. One page, one rep, one outreach, one uncomfortable conversation, one measurable step.
Third, I started tracking proof instead of vibes. Fear loves fog. It thrives when everything is “I think” and “I feel.” So I started collecting evidence. What did I do this week that the old version of me would not have done? Where did I show courage without applause? Where did I keep my word when nobody would’ve known if I didn’t?
That’s how I’ve been learning to lead myself without relying on chaos.
Pressure can make you perform. Fear decides if you actually move forward.
The Chick-fil-A of News Sources
The “Chick-fil-A of news sources” thinks they’ve found a way to help Christians have a healthy relationship with the news. It’s called The Pour Over, and it has two goals:
Keep readers informed about the major headlines of the day
Keep readers focused on Christ
It pairs neutral, lighthearted coverage of current events with brief biblical reminders to stay focused on eternity.
Are they hitting the mark? 1.5 Million Christians believe they are. See what you think. Subscribe here for free!
And I’m still a lone wolf in a lot of ways, but I’m learning something important: being alone is not the same as being unsupported, and being strong is not the same as being silent.
On the next part of the Fear series, I walk through one leap of faith I took while my mind offered me every “reasonable” reason to stay put, and what happened after I chose movement without the comfort of certainty.
