Against all odds, I didn’t wake up inspired.
I woke up bored.
Bored with routines that ran my days but never challenged my mind.
Bored with clocking in, clocking out, and doing work that kept things moving, but didn’t move me.
I wasn’t burned out. I was underused.
What weighed on me most wasn’t effort.
It was the lack of impact.
The quiet fear that if I left tomorrow, nothing meaningful would change.
At barely 20 years old, I didn’t have clarity or a master plan.
I had hunger.
A need to learn.
To matter.
To stop feeling replaceable.
Then an opportunity showed up.
Not safe.
Not comfortable.
But real.
It offered what routine never could:
• Real impact
• A reason to keep learning
• Responsibility that actually meant something
So I took it.
Since then, I’ve worked in different companies.
Different roles.
Different environments.
And something followed me everywhere.
The feeling of being needed never faded.
But neither did the discipline.
I learned early that feeling needed can quietly turn into comfort.
So I do my job as if I could be replaced at any time, not out of fear, but out of respect.
I walk into work every day hungrier than the day before.
“How can I be better at my job?”
That question is always running in the background.
And somewhere along the way, I realized something important:
This mindset doesn’t stop at work.
It shows up in how I parent.
In how I show up in my relationships.
In how I treat my friendships as a student and as a person.
I don’t assume presence is enough.
I don’t assume effort yesterday earns me grace today.
I try to earn my place everywhere I show up.
Not by being perfect.
Not by being loud.
But by being intentional, consistent, and willing to learn.
That hunger keeps ego in check.
It turns confidence into humility.
And progress into something sustainable.
Seven years later, I can say this with clarity:
I make an impact.
The people around me are proud.
My family knows I didn’t waste my circumstances—I built something from them.
True control over your destiny doesn’t come from believing you’re irreplaceable.
It comes from knowing you can grow, adapt, and do it again, in every area of life.
So I’ll leave you with this:
Where have you started coasting because you feel secure?
And if you treated every role in your life like it mattered…
what would change tomorrow?
