The new year is here.
And isn’t it a little wild to realize we’re drifting back toward the grand 30s again?
The last time the world entered a decade with that name, history didn’t arrive quietly.
The 1930s were shaped by the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, the rise of authoritarian regimes, massive economic reform, and tensions that eventually pulled the world into war. Hard years. Defining years.
Looking back, the 2020s haven’t exactly been gentle either.
A global pandemic stopped the world cold.
Economic shocks rewrote how people live, work, and plan.
Division grew louder.
Technology accelerated faster than most of us were ready for.
And global conflict and climate extremes reminded us how thin the line really is.
Different decades. Same pattern.
Pressure reveals what people and systems are made of.

Still, I’m excited.
And I’m thankful to God that I get to see another year.
Not everyone does. That matters.
Another year means another chance to move with intention.
To choose integrity over shortcuts.
To build instead of react.
To do better than history did last time.
We can’t control the era we’re born into.
But we can control how we show up in it.
Here’s hoping this version of the 30s is shaped less by fear and more by wisdom.
